Math Targets for the Year

Trimester 1
Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-10.
Point and count objects in a standard order, understanding that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted (0-10).
Show that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger (to 10)
Count to answer “how many?” questions about 0-10 things arranged in a variety of configurations.
Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 (presented as written numerals) to determine greater than, less than, or equal to.



Trimester 2
Count to 100 by tens.
Count forward by ones beginning with a given number other than one. (up to 20).
Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20.
Point and count objects in a standard order, understanding that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted (0-20).
Show that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger (to 20)
Count to answer “how many?” questions about 0-20 things arranged in a variety of configurations.
Represent addition with manipulatives, drawings or equations within 10.
Represent subtraction with manipulatives, drawings or equations (within 10)
Solve addition word problems within 10 by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.
Solve subtraction word problems within 10 by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.


Trimester 3
Count to 100 by fives.
Count forward by ones beginning with a given number other than one.
Count to 100 by ones.
Decompose and record numbers less than or equal to 10 in more than one way by using objects, drawings, or equations.
Find and record the missing addend in a sum to 10.
Fluently add within 5. 
Fluently subtract within 5. 
Compose/decompose and record numbers from 11-19 into tens and ones.
Describe measurable attributes of objects such as length or weight in whole non-standard units.
