General Information
Thank you to everyone who came to parent teacher conferences! I really enjoyed getting to see you all again and to share with you about your child! If you have not already, please email me to verify that you have seen your child’s report card!
Please make sure your child is wearing a coat to school, as we go outside for recess every day. Also, to play in the snow your child needs to have boots, snow pants, coat, hat, and gloves/mittens. Please also make sure your child's' coat and other items( gloves, hats, scarves, etc.) are labeled with your child's name.
Literacy
We are continuing Unit 3 of literacy. We are working on the Unit 3 sight words. We are also working on short "i", rhyming, and beginning sounds. We started working with our new book, What Will The Weather Be? This week for writing we talked about the three things good writers use in a sentence. We talked about using an uppercase letter at the beginning of a sentence and the rest are lowercase, putting spaces between our words using a finger space, and having a punctuation mark at the end of our sentence.
Math
This week in math we began our talk about shapes and positional words. We played a game where we had to move our right hand to different position on our body, such as putting our right hand next to our left ear, or putting our right hand above our head. This helped to reinforce which hand is our right and left and using different positional words.
Science
We continued our unit of Weather this week! We have continued to track the weather independently as part of our morning routine! We continued to talked about the vocabulary words that go along with weather and what different types of weather are. This week we pretended we were weather reporters, cue card holders, and camera men/women and recorded each other talking about the weather in different places! We had so much fun!
